Hello everyone and happy June, the halfway mark in the year. So weird saying that, but it seems to be true we are officially halfway through 2019. This month is shaping up to be the month of rereads. Half of my tbr is rereading two of my favorite series and the other half are standalone novels from two new to me authors. I think I am going to really enjoy myself this month!
-The Books–
The Fellowship of the Ring by J.R.R. Tolkien
- This is one of my rereads, I read this 4 or 5 years ago for the first time and with Tolkien the movie coming out it has really made me want to reread and jump into his world.
The Flight Portfolio by Julie Orringer
- This was my Book of the Month pick, I was pulled toward it because it is based off of the life of Varian Fry who tried to save the lives of Jews during WWII.
Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire by J.K. Rowling
- Do I really need to explain myself with this one? I miss the magic and I want to go back to Hogwarts!
The Women in the Dark by Vanessa Savage
- This is the June buddy read for Amy, Jenna, Reg and myself. I am very excited to jump into this haunting thriller I happened to come across in the bookstore a week and and half ago.
-TBR Jar Pick-
This month I actually had my boyfriend pick my TBR jar pick and he did not disappoint! He picked The Flight Portfolio by Julie Orringer, which I already talked about above. I am really excited to jump into this tome and I think it is going to give me some hope in humanity and I feel like it might also be an emotional roller coaster. He picked very well indeed.
Looks like interesting reads. I tried getting through LOTR but I never got into the story. I loved the movies though

I first got into the stories via audiobook, then are done really well. Then I was able to really get into the books. I feel like it really helped me get everything right in my head with all of the characters.

That looks like a pretty darn good TBR. Obviously I’ve read LOTR and Harry Potter, but hadn’t heard of the other two. My June TBR is filled with some re-reads, some Pride reads, and some readathon books, so it’s going to be pretty busy.

Thanks, I think it is a good bunch of books. I only post 4 that I really want to read, I always end up reading more/different books. Sounds like you have a really awesome mix of books for sure. Enjoy your reading!

I’ve never read any of the Lord of the Rings books and I feel awful about it. Maybe that’s something that I should do this year haha. Good luck with your TBR.

Thanks so much! I recommend reading The Hobbit first before jumping into the series. It is a prequel and you will see if LOTR is your thing before jumping into the trilogy. A lot of the sam characters and such.

I’ve always loved LOTR films but struggled with the books, but Hobbit was easier to read. The Flight Portfolio looks really interesting, I hope you enjoy it:)

Thanks! LOTR audiobooks helped me initially. I was having trouble keeping track of everything at first.

I’m at Goblet of Fire for my reread of the series! It’s not happening this month though. I’m most looking forward to finishing Written In Red as well as the buddy read.

Ah, I started in September or October I think? I am 46% through as of right now and I am trying to finish it tonight so I can jump into Good Omens so I can finish it that by Friday because my BF now wants to watch the series with me and I don’t want to watch the show first lol. This should be an interesting reading week.

I read Good Omens a couple summers ago so I’m excited to see your thoughts on it!

I read 21 pages of that while I was in the waiting room today. I really am enjoying the writing so far and looking forward to get into it more.
